This course focuses on the measured energy performance for 121 LEED New Construction (NC) buildings, and compares the data to a variety of benchmarks, including Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) averages, Energy Star ratings and modeled energy performance estimates provided with LEED submittals. Based on the 2008 document of the same title.  This AIA approved course for architects is approved for 2 HSW continuing education hours/credits.

Learning Objective 1:Upon completion of this course, the student will understand how energy performance of the sample set of buildings was measured and evaluated.
Learning Objective 2:The student will see whether LEED certified buildings are saving energy and if they are meeting their objectives.
Learning Objective 3:The student will understand the accuracy of energy modeling results for average building performance for a sample set as opposed to energy modeling results for individual buildings.
Learning Objective 4: The student will have a working knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of using LEED and energy modeling based on current standards, especially with regard to specific building types.
